How are UJK Parf M8 Anchor Dogs used in practice?
The dog is inserted into the chamfered 20mm hole of the top and sits flush with the surface. The M8 through threaded hole in the center of the dog allows any element with an M8 screw to be screwed in: custom clamps, planing stops, corner guides, jig brackets, and any other custom-built equipment.
The M8 screw can be screwed from top to bottom (to fix elements above the top) or from bottom to top (to fix elements below the top). The dog remains flush with the surface in both cases, allowing flat pieces to be placed directly on top of it without interference.
Do anchor dogs require a chamfer around the 20 mm hole?
Yes. The chamfered profile of the dog requires a chamfer around the hole to sit correctly flush with the surface of the top. UJK tops and the Festool MFT/3 already have a standard chamfer. For self-built tops with the Parf MkII drilling system, the UJK combined chamfering and reaming tool is available.
What is the difference between standard anchor dogs and long anchor dogs?
Standard anchor dogs are made of 303 stainless steel, have a total height of 18 mm, and are recommended for standard thickness tops of 18–25 mm. Long anchor dogs are made of aluminum, have a total height of 32 mm, and are suitable for thicker tops where 18 mm does not provide sufficient M8 thread engagement.
For standard 18 mm MDF and HDF tops, standard dogs offer adequate grip. For thicker tops or applications requiring greater thread engagement, the 32 mm long dogs are the recommended choice.
Are the anchor dogs compatible with the Festool MFT/3 top?
Yes. UJK Parf M8 Anchor Dogs are compatible with the Festool MFT/3 top and all grid tops with chamfered 20mm holes. The chamfered profile of the dog fits into the standard chamfer of the MFT/3 hole, ensuring flush positioning with the surface.
Can the anchor dogs be removed once inserted?
Yes. The anchor dogs are inserted and removed from the 20 mm holes without tools, like all other dogs in the UJK system. They do not have a permanent locking mechanism: they are held in place by the M8 screw threaded through the central threaded hole during use, and can be removed when not needed to free the hole.
