K80 150 mm Corundum Grinding Wheel — for which HSS tools?

The K80 grit corundum (Al₂O₃) grinding wheel is for sharpening HSS (High-Speed Steel) tools: twist drills, chisels, scissors, blades, HSS lathe tools. K80 is a medium-fine grit: it removes enough material to resharpen worn edges without leaving deep scratches. For very worn tools, first use K36–K60; for finishing the edge, switch to K120 or a leather honing wheel. Do not use on HM carbide — corundum wears quickly on carbide without effectively sharpening it.

How do I properly mount this grinding wheel?

Check for cracks before mounting (sound test — it should produce a clear metallic sound). Mount with the appropriate flange — do not overtighten. Ensure that the maximum speed of the grinding wheel (stamped on the wheel itself) is higher than the machine's spindle speed. Perform a 1-minute idle break-in with protection before first use.
