Bernardo Standard 165 V-Top Lathe with Variable Speed Drive and 3-axis DRO
The Bernardo Standard 165 V-Top lathe combines capacity, precision, and professional features in a compact format. With a 350 mm swing over bed and a 1000 mm distance between centers, it is suitable for workshops, schools, and maintenance departments. The electronic two-range variable speed drive (70–400 / 350–2000 rpm) ensures quick and smooth adjustments, while the 3-axis ES-12 V DRO speeds up dimensional checks. The structure, featuring an 180 mm bed width, a 40 mm spindle bore (D1-4), and a removable gap 220 mm (up to 450 mm swing), guarantees rigidity and versatility. It comes with extensive accessories: self-centering and independent chuck, quick-change Multifix tool post, steady and follow rests, faceplate, coolant system, safety clutch, foot pedal with CE brake, and LED light. Motor 1.5 kW (S1) / 2.2 kW (S6) – 400 V, weight 530 kg.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Standard series and the Profi series in Bernardo lathes?
The Standard series (like the Standard 165) has a unibody structure with a prismatic bed: more rigid and quieter for continuous precision machining, with an international standard D1-4 or D1-6 spindle mount. The Profi series has a gap bed that facilitates access to the cutting area and lower weights — suitable for workshops with limited space. Standard 150: Ø bed 350 mm, distance between centers 1000 mm — intermediate dimensions between hobbyist and industrial light.
What does the electronic variable speed drive add compared to versions without it?
The electronic variable speed drive covers the entire speed range steplessly — smooth transition from roughing to finishing without stopping the machine. Constant torque even at low speeds for hard steels and large sections. The version without a variable speed drive uses stepped gearing: less flexible but simpler to maintain.
The 3-axis ES-12 V DRO — what does it measure and how is it used?
The 3-axis DRO simultaneously measures the X-axis (cross slide), Z-axis (longitudinal), and W-axis (compound slide). Resolution of 0.001 mm — eliminates vernier readings and reduces dimensional errors in repeated setups. The "diameter" function automatically displays the turned diameter calculated from the X position without needing to measure. Immediate setup without programming.
Spare parts and accessories available?
Standard accessories available: 4-jaw chuck, steady and follow rests, faceplate, collet chuck. Original spare parts available with 3–5 working day shipping. Customer support in Italian available.
How much space does the Standard 165 require in the workshop?
Consider at least the distance between centers (1000 mm) clear in front of and behind the machine for workpiece handling, plus 80 cm on each side for safe operation. For machines over 300 kg, coordinate with Krollit for unloading equipment.
