Why use specific Bernardo collets instead of generic ER collets?
Original Bernardo collets for T 500 PF are calibrated for the machine's specific collet chuck – they guarantee the declared concentricity (TIR) and correct preload of the taper. Generic collets may have different dimensional tolerances that compromise tool centering, leading to vibrations, poor finish, and premature tool wear. For precision routing, original collets are always preferable.
Does this set cover the most common shank sizes?
The set includes 6, 8, and 12 mm collets – the three most common shank sizes for router bits used on wood, plastic, and aluminum on machines in this range. For bits with 10 mm shanks, a separate collet is required. Please check the shank diameter of the tools to be used before purchase.
Can these collets also be used for drilling with smooth-shank bits?
Yes – the collets accept any tool with the indicated shank diameter: router bits, smooth-shank drill bits (not tapered-shank), reamers, center drills. For standard HSS drill bits with cylindrical shanks of 6, 8, or 12 mm, immediate use is possible – they offer greater precision than a self-tightening chuck for reaming and micro-drilling operations.
