Güde WM 562 TRI string mower – 560 mm, 4.0 HP Power-Engine motor
The WM 562 TRI is designed for shredding tall, dense and mixed grass using a dual rotating line instead of a fixed blade. Unlike blade mowers, the line system is tolerant of obstacles: stones, sticks and exposed branches are struck by the elastic line, which bounces back without blocking the machine. It is ideal for wild gardens, country lawns, field edges, public areas with irregular vegetation and neglected gardens.
The 3.0 kW (4.0 HP) 4-stroke Power-Engine delivers more power than entry-level models, allowing continuous work for 8+ hours without overheating. The 170 cc displacement ensures constant torque even on very dense grass. The recoil start with integrated primer pump makes starting easy even in cold conditions.
The adjustable 35–95 mm cutting height, controlled by a sliding pin, allows quick adaptation to different uses: close cutting (35 mm) for well-kept lawns, ordinary maintenance (55–70 mm) for uncultivated areas, and coarse mulching (90–95 mm) for wild vegetation. Position change without tools in 20–30 seconds.
Key features:
-
Robust steel frame – Stabilised sheet steel body protects the engine and ensures 10+ years of service life with ordinary maintenance
-

-
Elastic 4 mm dual line – Obstacle-tolerant, clean cutting on dense and mixed grass; 4 replacement lines included as standard
-
Height-adjustable handle – Ergonomic for operators of different heights, reducing fatigue during prolonged sessions
-
Spherical front skid – Glides smoothly over bumps and dips without impact
-
Integrated splash guard – Protects the operator from grass and debris splashes

3.0 kW power is sufficient for thick grass; line system is tolerant of obstacles; dual line ensures clean cutting on neglected areas |
| Green maintenance operator / small landscaper (10–20 properties/year) |
Suitable |
Reliable engine for multi-day work cycles; replacement line is easy and inexpensive; robust steel frame; quick height adjustment |
| Farmer / intensive professional gardening use (100+ properties/year) |
Not recommended |
3.0 kW power is competitive only for ordinary lawns; 102 dB noise level is not suitable for residential areas; 0.8 L/hour fuel consumption is not efficient for 10+ hour daily shifts |
Not suitable for: small gardens <500 m² (oversized tool); areas with many fixed obstacles (fences, trees, kerbs); exclusively flat and well-kept surfaces (excessive power not required); use in the evening/night (high 102 dB noise level).

Frequently asked questions
What is the cutting width and how much ground does the WM 562 TRI cover per hour?
The cutting width is 560 mm (0.56 m). On ordinary medium-length grass (50–70 mm), it covers approximately 1,500–2,000 m² per hour of actual work (forward speed ~3–4 km/h). On very dense or thick grass, speed drops to 1,000–1,200 m²/hour.
How much fuel does the WM 562 TRI consume?
With the Power-Engine running at full speed, consumption is approximately 0.3–0.4 L/hour on flat ground with medium grass. With dense grass or uphill work, consumption can reach up to 0.5 L/hour. The 0.8 L tank provides approximately 1.5–2.5 hours of runtime between refuelling.
How do you replace the line when it wears out?
The system is simple: (1) Stop the engine, (2) Unlock the line head by turning the fixing screw, (3) Remove the worn line, (4) Wind the new line (~5 m per side) onto the spool, (5) Refit and secure the head. Manual procedure: approximately 5–10 minutes. 4 replacement lines are included as standard.
Is the 35–95 mm cutting height sufficient for wild lawns?
Yes. The 35 mm height is close cutting, like a professional mower, ideal for well-kept lawns. The 95 mm height is conservative for dense vegetation or brush. If the lawn is heavily overgrown with weeds (>30 cm), pre-cut at 95 mm, then repeat at 50 mm after 1 week for better results.
What is the advantage of the dual-line system compared to a blade?
The 4 mm elastic line bounces back when it hits stones, sticks or roots, preventing the machine from blocking. A fixed blade stops if it hits obstacles. The line is tolerant on uncultivated lawns; the blade is sharper on soft grass. The WM 562 TRI excels on difficult lawns, not on manicured lawns.
How heavy is the WM 562 TRI and is it easy to handle?
The net weight is 23 kg. With the 3.0 kW engine running, pushing effort is moderate. The height-adjustable handle and large 360 mm rear wheels make the machine manageable for operators of average strength. Female operators or elderly users may find it heavy during continuous sessions of more than 3 hours.
What maintenance does the WM 562 TRI require?
Moderate maintenance: (1) Oil change every 50 hours (15W40 oil, 0.5 L capacity); (2) Air filter inspection every 10 hours (clean or replace if dirty); (3) Spark plug check every 20 hours (replace if worn); (4) Line head cleaning after each use (grass residues); (5) Fuel tank emptying if not used for >1 month (prevents rust); (6) Line replacement every 10–15 working hours (depending on grass density).
Is the 102 dB noise level tolerable?
102 dB is moderate for a petrol mower (professional lawn mowers are 100–110 dB, chainsaws 110–120 dB). It is comparable to a mechanical shovel. Not suitable for evening/night hours (<8 AM) in residential areas, but acceptable during central daytime hours (10 AM–6 PM) on private properties with neighbours at a distance of >10 m.
