Guede Vertical Rammer GVS 80E - Compactor for confined spaces
The Guede Vertical Rammer GVS 80E is the specialized tool for vertical compaction in confined and hard-to-reach spaces. Unlike horizontal vibratory plates, the vertical rammer achieves compaction depths of 40–65 cm on mixed, granular, and artificial soils (fill, foundations, drainage). With only 680 blows/min but 10 kN of constant pressure, the GVS 80E ensures uniform results on vertical or semi-vertical surfaces, ideal for confined construction sites, precision work, deep sub-foundations, and confined environments where horizontal plates cannot reach. Its low weight (75 kg) and compact foot (340×280 mm) allow for work in corridors, linear trenches, and restricted areas with a single operator. A robust steel frame and reversible starting system guarantee daily reliability on heavy-duty construction sites.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
What is the difference between the "depth" of the GVS 80E (40–65 cm) and that of the GRP 80E plate (20 cm)?
The GVS 80E compacts vertically in successive layers: each pass penetrates 5–8 cm. By repeating 6–8 passes, you achieve 40–65 cm of total compaction. The GRP 80E compacts superficially (20 cm) in a single horizontal pass. For foundations, the GVS is superior.
Can I use the vertical rammer on asphalt?
Not recommended. Hot/rigid asphalt does not benefit from vertical vibration. The GVS is designed for granular, sandy, mixed soils, not bituminous materials. For asphalt, use the GRP 80E horizontal plate.
How does the "reversible system" of the GVS 80E work?
If the rammer gets stuck in compacted soil, activate the reverse start. The engine reverses rotation, and the foot extracts from the ground. It is not a reverse movement, but an emergency vertical extraction.
How much maintenance does it require between jobs?
Every 20 h: oil check, air filter cleaning. Every 50 h: complete engine oil change, bearing lubrication. Every 100 h: spark plug replacement, rubber foot inspection. Always use fresh petrol (not > 3 months stored).
Do the rubber feet wear out? Are they included?
Yes, they wear out. Durability: 150–250 working hours (depends on granulometry and humidity). Replacement: code 55575-01058. They are included in the standard equipment but replaceable in 5 minutes.
Noise: Is 105 dB(A) compatible with residential areas?
Yes, slightly quieter than the GRP 80E (108 dB). However, it is as noisy as a construction site. In residential areas, limit use to 08:00–17:00 Mon–Fri (check local ordinances). Provide 95 dB SNR headphones to operators.
Can I lift the vertical rammer with a crane?
Yes. The frame has 4 certified anchoring points (see manual) for horizontal lifting up to 2 t. However, net weight is 75 kg: manual transport with 2 people is better.
Warranty on mechanical damage (stuck feet, forced engine)?
Standard Guede warranty: 24 months from purchase (manufacturing defects). Exclusions: lack of oil maintenance, fuel stored > 6 months, forced engine during blocked extraction, water immersion. Contact Krollit within 30 days of purchase for claims.
What is the tactile feedback during compaction?
The vibration is transmitted directly to the handles (damped for comfort). The operator feels the intensity of the blows and adjusts pressure by slowly lifting/lowering. There is no real-time numerical data: it is manual work based on experience.
Do I need to register the vertical rammer somewhere?
No. It is not registered (no license plate). Documentation: manual + CE declaration provided. For public construction sites, request DURC + CCIAA registration (concerns the company). Keep the Krollit invoice for warranty and assistance.
