Frequently Asked Questions

PO3 Ø 80 mm chuck — for which type of lathe and with which mounting?

The PO3 chuck is a 3-jaw self-centering steel chuck with DIN 6350 centering. The standard DIN 6350 bolted flange mounting requires tightening the fastening screws for assembly. Please check the number of holes and the bolt circle diameter of your chuck before purchasing.

The steel version PO3 vs the cast iron version — what is the concrete difference?

The steel version PO3 is 20–30% lighter than cast iron for the same diameter — it reduces start/brake times and high-speed vibrations. Steel allows higher maximum rotation speeds than cast iron. For high-speed lathes or for those who frequently work with quick changes, the steel version is the correct choice.

The included jaw set — what size workpieces can this Ø 80 mm chuck clamp?

The Ø 80 mm chuck includes turning jaws (for external gripping) and boring jaws (for internal gripping). As a reference: the turning jaws clamp workpieces from about 5% to 60% of the chuck diameter. For very small workpieces compared to the chuck, consider collets; for very large workpieces, consider a larger diameter chuck. Customer support in English is available.
