Locking pliers 16.0 mm for U3M

U3M indicates the standard thread of the collet chuck for which this 16.0 mm collet is intended — it mounts on the Bernardo T 500 PF milling machine or other milling machines with a compatible U3M collet chuck. U3M collets clamp the tool from the outside with high centering precision (TIR typically <0.01 mm) — significantly superior to the standard keyless chuck for precision milling and drilling operations.

Each collet is specific to the indicated tool shank diameter — a 16.0 mm collet only accepts tools with an exactly 16.0 mm shank. "Approximate" collets cannot be used (e.g., an 8 mm collet for a 6 mm tool). The complete set (6, 8, 12 mm) covers the most common shank diameters for end mills in wood and composite materials on machines of this range.

1) Insert the collet into the collet chuck cone (it should click into place). 2) Insert the tool into the collet. 3) Tighten the collet chuck nut with the appropriate wrench until it is firm — no further, to avoid deforming the collet. To dismount: loosen the nut and use the brass drift (never steel) to extract the collet from the conical housing. Never force it with a hammer directly on the nut.
