Locking pliers 18.0 mm for U3M

U3M indicates the standard thread of the collet holder for which this 18.0 mm collet is intended — it is mounted on the Bernardo T 500 PF milling machine or other milling machines with a compatible U3M collet holder. U3M collets clamp the tool from the outside with high centering precision (TIR typically <0.01 mm) — significantly superior to standard keyless chucks for precision milling and drilling operations.

Each collet is specific to the indicated tool shank diameter — an 18.0 mm collet only accepts tools with an exactly 18.0 mm shank. "Approximate" collets cannot be used (e.g., an 8 mm collet for a 6 mm tool). 1) Insert the collet into the collet holder cone (it should click into place). 2) Insert the tool into the collet. 3) Tighten the collet holder nut with the appropriate wrench until firmly secured — no further, to avoid deforming the collet. To unmount: loosen the nut and use a brass hammer (never steel) to extract the collet from the conical housing. Never force it with a hammer directly on the nut.
