Who uses the RT 3 T and for what

The Bernardo RT 3 T is a compact woodworking router table with a 780 × 505 mm ground cast iron table. Design feature: the router is mounted under the table, and the workpiece slides over it for creating profiles, rebates, joints, and precision routing. The ground cast iron table offers millimeter-level flatness, a crucial feature for precise routing. The RT 3 T model has a distinctive feature: a tilting table from 0° to 45°. The table's inclination allows for angular routing (chamfers, angled grooves, complex profiles) without the need for special accessories. Practical difference with RT 3 F: the RT 3 T specializes in angular routing, while the RT 3 F specializes in linear routing of large workpieces with a sliding table. Ø 100 mm dust extraction port (larger than the Ø 60 mm on the RT 3 F) for connection to a centralized workshop dust extraction system. Adjustable aluminum fence (2 × 300 × 75 mm), routing opening Ø 92 mm with reduction rings Ø 60 / Ø 30 mm for using cutters of different diameters. In Krollit customer workshops, RT router tables are chosen by advanced wood hobbyists, artisanal woodworking shops, schools with wood technology workshops, and furniture restorers.

Its place in the range

The Bernardo RT router table range includes 2 models with distinctive features: RT 3 F with integrated sliding table 785 × 310 mm, Ø 60 mm dust extraction port; RT 3 T with 0°-45° tilting table, Ø 100 mm dust extraction port. Both share the same table dimensions (~785 × 505 mm), working height 860 mm, routing opening Ø 92 mm with reduction rings, adjustable aluminum fence, and similar weight (55-57 kg).

The RT 3 T specializes in angular routing: the 0° to 45° tilting table allows for chamfers, angled grooves, and complex profiles without special accessories. For linear routing of large workpieces, the RT 3 F with its sliding table is the correct choice. The Ø 100 mm dust extraction port is larger than the RT 3 F (Ø 60 mm): for workshops with a centralized dust extraction system, the Ø 100 mm diameter is more compatible.

Krollit logistics and support

Bernardo shipping in 5-9 working days (7 days to the South). The RT 3 T router table is shipped on a pallet, weighing 57 kg. Cutters (HSS, carbide), reduction rings, additional fences, and original Bernardo accessories are available from stock with 3-5 working day shipping. Customer support is available in Italian.

Who is the RT 3 T for

Profile Compatibility Reason
Advanced wood hobbyist Recommended Compact router table for advanced hobbyist use. Ground cast iron table for working flatness. 0°-45° tilting table for angular routing.
Artisanal woodworking shop Recommended 0°-45° tilting table for angular routing (chamfers, angled grooves, complex profiles). Adjustable aluminum fence, accessories included.
Wood technology workshop Recommended Robustness for school use, compact dimensions, safety accessories included. Ø 100 mm dust extraction port for centralized system.

Not suitable for: linear routing of very large workpieces over 800 mm in length (the RT 3 F with sliding table is the correct choice); intensive continuous professional use (consider professional spindle moulders); operations requiring dedicated mobile carriages for workpiece positioning (the RT 3 T is sized for fixed bench use).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the router bit need to be purchased separately?

Yes. The machine is supplied without a router bit. Router bits are chosen based on the profile to be created (rebates, chamfers, grooves, decorative profiles), the diameter (compatible with Ø 92 mm opening and Ø 60/30 mm reduction rings), and the material of the workpiece (HSS for soft wood, carbide for hard wood).

Original Bernardo router bits for RT tables are available from stock with 3-5 working day shipping. For choosing router bits, it is recommended to consult the Bernardo catalog or request support from Krollit sales. For intensive professional use, a basic set of 8-12 common profile router bits is recommended (approx. €80-300 for the basic set).

Can I route metals in addition to wood?

To a limited extent. The machine is primarily sized for wood; for light metals (aluminum, brass), it can be managed with specific router bits and reduced speeds. For steel, it is inadequate: the power and table rigidity are not sufficient.

For professional metal routing, dedicated metal milling machines are correctly sized (Bernardo BF, FM, MF range). RT tables are designed for wood: use with metals other than aluminum/brass causes accelerated router bit wear, excessive vibration, and risk of spindle bearing damage.

What does the ground cast iron table offer?

Millimeter-level or superior working flatness: the table is machined with an industrial grinding machine that offers a typical tolerance of ±0.02 mm over the entire surface. This is a crucial feature for precise routing where the flatness of the workpiece determines the quality of the profile.

For non-ground tables, the typical flatness is ±0.5-1 mm: sufficient for rough work but not for precision routing (e.g., decorative rebates, jointing parts, furniture joinery). The ground cast iron table has a longer lifespan than a welded sheet metal table: the thermal mass of cast iron stabilizes the temperature during prolonged operation.

Is the Ø 100 mm dust extraction port compatible with my extractor?

For the RT 3 T, the port is Ø 100 mm. Compatible with centralized dust extraction systems (typically Ø 100 mm) and medium-power extractors. For small extractors with Ø 60 mm hoses, a transition reducer is necessary.

Transition fittings between different diameters (e.g., Ø 100 → Ø 60 mm) are available in the Bernardo accessories catalog or from standard industrial suppliers. To optimize extraction efficiency, direct connection to the native diameter of the port is recommended, avoiding long transitions that reduce airflow.

Can the machine be used without connecting dust extraction?

Technically yes, but it is strongly discouraged. Wood dust generated by routing is a known carcinogen for the nasal cavity (IARC group 1) and chronic exposure is regulated by European legislation (Directive 2017/2398/EU).

For occasional use in well-ventilated environments, it can be managed in the short term, but for continuous professional use, connected extraction is mandatory, and personnel must wear PPE (at least FFP2 dust masks, safety goggles). For environments with unprotected personnel present, consider more elaborate extraction solutions (fume hoods) or moving the machine to a dedicated area.
