Bernardo RD 2500 x 80 Radial Drilling Machine – Extra-Large Power and Capacity
The Bernardo RD 2500 x 80 radial drilling machine is a high-capacity industrial machine designed for drilling, counterboring, reaming, and tapping operations on large workpieces. With a drilling capacity of up to Ø 80 mm and tapping capacity up to M64, it is the choice for companies requiring power and maximum stability.
The oversized base measuring 2450 x 1370 mm and the 800 x 1000 mm box table offer extensive clamping possibilities. The polished, torsion-free column, along with the hydraulically locked radial arm and head, ensure rigidity and precision.
The 16-speed gearbox (16–1250 rpm) and automatic feeds (0.04–3.2 mm/rev) guarantee the correct setting for every material. The 450 mm spindle stroke and 2000 mm head travel allow for wide operational capabilities. Standard features include: coolant pump, lifting motor, hydraulic motor, adjustable guard, and LED lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a radial drilling machine and when is it needed compared to a pillar drill?
In a pillar drill, the workpiece is moved to center the bit on the hole. In a radial drilling machine, the spindle moves: the radial arm traverses along the column (height) and rotates around it (angle), positioning the spindle exactly above the drilling point on fixed, heavy workpieces that cannot be easily moved. It is the choice for large workpieces, metal fabrication, and operations on already assembled machines.
Is the radial arm motorized or manual?
It depends on the model. Basic versions of the RD series have manual arm movement with screw locking. NC or Vario versions may have Z-axis motorization. Check the model specifications in the technical table.
What is the purpose of the right/left (R/L) spindle rotation?
Left (L) rotation allows the use of left-hand drills and loosening of left-hand threaded screws. It is also useful for manual tapping operations where advancement (right) and retraction (left) are alternated to break the chip.
Are spare parts and assistance available?
Original Bernardo spare parts available with 3–5 business day shipping. Customer support available in Italian.
How much space is needed for installation?
The turning radius of the arm determines the minimum operational area. Leave clear space equal to the arm's radius on all sides of the column. For machines over 500 kg, coordinate with Krollit for the necessary unloading equipment.
