Who uses the MTR 1560 × 3 NCC and for what purpose
The Bernardo MTR 1560 × 3 NCC is a motorized guillotine shear with pneumatic sheet support (MTR series) for industrial continuous production sheet metal cutting. With 31 strokes/min over a length of 1560 mm and a motorized NC backgauge, it is sized for cutting centers, sheet metal fabricators, and metal structure manufacturers who process sheet metal in series with consistent quality and repeatability. The MTR series adds pneumatic sheet support: pneumatic pins lift the sheet from the table during positioning, reducing friction and allowing heavy sheets to be moved with less effort—crucial for lengths exceeding 2,000 mm or thick sheets. In Krollit's customers' workshops, it is used by sheet metal cutting centers, metal roofing manufacturers, and sheet metal component producers.
Who is the Bernardo MTR 1560 × 3 NCC for
| Profile | Compatibility | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Hobbyist / Light artisan | Not suitable | Industrial shear weighing 2500 kg with NC control. Not suitable for non-professional use. |
| Cutting center / Sheet metal fabricator | Ideal | 1560 mm × 3 mm, 31 cpm, NC backgauge: for continuous production with industrial quality and repeatability. |
| High-volume industrial production | Ideal | The motorized NC backgauge and 31 strokes/min ensure the necessary productivity for high cutting volumes. |
Not suitable for: sheets over 3 mm; low-volume artisan use (manual shears PTS or HSG have much lower cost); installations without adequate space for 2500 kg and 2300 mm length.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the MTE series and the MTR series?
Both have a motorized NC backgauge, the same number of strokes (31/min), and similar construction. The MTR adds pneumatic sheet support: pins that lift the sheet during positioning, reducing friction, which is essential for long (over 2,000 mm) or heavy sheets. The MTE does not have this support—the sheet slides directly on the table. For standard production on light sheets, the MTE is sufficient; for heavy sheets or large formats, the MTR significantly facilitates the operator's work.
What is the maximum thickness for stainless steel?
The nominal thickness of 3 mm refers to S235 steel (400 N/mm²). For AISI 304 stainless steel (600 N/mm²), the capacity is reduced by 30–40% (approximately 2.0 mm). Always check with Krollit for specific high-strength materials.
Are the blades reversible?
Yes. The shear blades have 4 cutting edges: when one edge is worn, the blade is rotated to expose the next cutting edge before complete replacement. Original Bernardo replacement blades are available with 3–5 working day shipping.
Is three-phase power required?
Yes. The 7.5 kW motor requires 400V three-phase power. Verify the availability of a three-phase system at the installation site before ordering.
How much space is needed for installation?
Footprint 2300 x 2250 x 1400 mm. For sheet handling, free space at least equal to the cutting length (1560 mm) is needed in front of and behind the machine. With 2500 kg, coordinate with Krollit for the necessary unloading equipment.
