Description

Bernardo Pillar Drill SB 25 S / 400 V R/L

The Bernardo Pillar Drill SB 25 S / 400 V R/L is designed for stability, precision, and power in professional applications. Thanks to a high-torque aluminum motor conforming to the IP 54 standard and professional-quality bearings, it ensures spindle concentricity and long lifespan. With a drilling capacity of up to 25 mm in steel and a 1–16 mm keyless drill chuck included as standard, it offers high performance. The height-adjustable table, which can be tilted from -45° to +45° and features T-slots and a coolant groove, is adjusted via a rack. Reversible R/L rotation, a separate emergency stop, and adjustable protection complete the safety features. Suitable for mechanical workshops and artisans seeking reliability and precision in a robust and versatile pillar drill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Belt-driven pillar drill vs. geared drill: which to choose?

V-belt drills (such as the Bernardo Pillar Drill SB) are quieter, less expensive, and have sufficient torque for drilling up to Ø 32 mm in standard steel. Geared drills (GB series) deliver higher torque at low speeds — necessary for deep reaming, large diameter tapping, and drilling hard materials over Ø 30 mm. For standard drilling up to Ø 32 mm, a belt drive is the correct choice.

What is the maximum drilling diameter in steel with the Bernardo Pillar Drill SB?

Nominal capacity Ø 32 mm in S235 steel with HSS drill bit. In AISI 304 stainless steel, the capacity is reduced by 30–40% — use specific drill bits for stainless steel and reduced speed with coolant. In aluminum, the capacity increases by 30%. For holes over Ø 20 mm in steel, always use the lowest available speed and controlled manual feed.

How do you choose the correct speed for the material?

Optimal peripheral speed: mild steel 15–25 m/min, stainless steel 8–15 m/min, aluminum 60–100 m/min, plastic 40–80 m/min. The formula: n (rpm) = (v × 1000) / (π × d). For Ø 10 mm drill bits in steel: 500–800 rpm. Too high a speed burns the cutting edge; too low causes vibrations and long chips that wrap around the drill bit. The belt change allows for the selection of predefined speeds — choose the one closest to the calculated optimal speed.

400 V power supply: is a special system needed?

400 V three-phase — requires an industrial system. Check for three-phase power and switchboard capacity before purchasing.

Are spare parts available?
