A sharp HSS knife is safer than a worn one — a worn blade requires more force and can tear fibers instead of cutting them.

Yes — with the Bernardo planer knife sharpener (HMS 600 or PHMS 630 A), you can sharpen HSS knives instead of replacing them. An HSS knife can be sharpened 5–10 times before the thickness becomes insufficient for secure clamping on the shaft. For TCT carbide knives (inserts), the insert is rotated without sharpening.
