Who uses the CWM 250 R – 230V and for what
The Bernardo CWM 250 R – 230V is a universal wood combination machine — it integrates a jointer, planer, and circular saw in a compact footprint. With a 250 mm width, it covers the standard artisanal-professional range of solid wood processing: jointing and planing, 90° and 45° sawing. The motor with dual power class S1/S6 (1.5/2.1 kW) ensures continuous operation even on hardwoods. 230V single-phase version: suitable for workshops without three-phase power. In Krollit customers' workshops, it is used by carpenters, joiners, and wood artisans looking for a versatile machine in a confined space.
Who the Bernardo CWM 250 R – 230V is for
| Profile | Compatibility | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Passionate hobbyist | Suitable | 230V single-phase: suitable for home workshops with good space availability. |
| Carpentry / wood artisan | Ideal | 250 mm planer + thicknesser + saw in one machine: the solution for those with limited space who want to cover the main solid wood processes. |
| Intensive industrial production | Not indicated | For high-volume wood production, separate dedicated machines (standalone planer + standalone saw) are preferred for faster cycles and independent maintenance. |
Not indicated for: pieces over 250 mm wide (planer) or beyond the saw table; intensive industrial production; woods beyond the 3 mm cutting depth capacity.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a jointer and a planer in a combination machine?
A jointer (surface planer) straightens the surface of the workpiece — the wood is passed over the table to obtain a flat reference face. A planer brings the workpiece to the desired height uniformly — the thickness is set and the wood is automatically fed through the machine. In a combination machine, both functions use the same shaft with knives: the function is changed by moving the workpiece to the correct table.
When should HSS knives be replaced or sharpened?
In professional use (4–6 hours/day) on medium woods, HSS knives require sharpening every 2–4 weeks. On hardwoods, every 1–2 weeks. Sets of original Bernardo replacement knives are available with 3–5 working day shipping. Alternatively, consider switching to a shaft with TCT inserts (almost no maintenance for insert rotation).
How much space is needed in the workshop for the CWM 250 R – 230V?
In addition to the machine's physical footprint, consider space for workpiece handling: at least the maximum length of the workpiece in front of and behind the planer, and the same distance to the sides of the saw. In practice, for a combination machine with a 1090 mm table, at least 3–4 m of free space is needed on each side.
Is a dedicated dust extractor needed?
Yes. Combination machines produce significant amounts of chips and sawdust. A dust extractor with a minimum flow rate of 600–800 m³/h and a Ø 100 mm connection is essential to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Bernardo offers compatible DC and FP extractors — contact Krollit for the correct configuration.
Can I switch to TCT knives on the existing shaft?
It depends on the model of the installed shaft. On some Bernardo combination machines, it is possible to replace the shaft with HSS knives with a TCT spiral shaft (reversible inserts) that eliminates sharpening. Contact Krollit to verify compatibility with your specific CWM 250 R – 230V.
