Frequently asked questions
1. How does the automatic 12 V/230 V voltage detection work?
Automatically. The compressor detects which voltage source is connected through its internal electronics: connect it to a 12 V car outlet and it automatically operates at 12 V, with no manual switch required. Connect it to 230 V household power and it immediately adapts to 230 V operation. No settings are required from the operator. The advantage is that one compressor covers both car and household use without manual intervention.
2. Is the 26–27 L/min capacity sufficient for inflating car tyres?
Yes, it is sufficient for reasonably fast inflation. A typical car tyre has a volume of about 30–35 litres at a target pressure of 2.5 bar; a 26–27 L/min flow rate allows inflation in roughly 2–3 minutes, which is practical for roadside emergencies. By comparison, very small 5–10 L/min compressors can take 10–15 minutes. Airpower offers a practical balance between flow rate and inflation speed.
3. Is the maximum pressure of 8 bar a limitation?
Slightly. Standard car and motorcycle tyres normally require 2.5–3.5 bar, which the Airpower reaches easily. Bicycle tyres may require 7–8 bar; the Airpower can reach this range, although flow drops to 10 L/min at 7 bar. Because bicycle tyres have a small volume of about 2–3 litres, inflation still takes only around 1–2 minutes. Professional pneumatic tools requiring 10–12 bar are beyond its capability and require an industrial compressor. For home, car, motorcycle and bicycle use, 8 bar is adequate.
4. Is the 1.7 kg weight genuinely convenient for travel?
Yes. At 1.7 kg it is very easy to carry. Its dimensions of 290×104×219 mm are comparable to a small shoebox and allow it to fit easily in a car tool compartment. The integrated handle makes carrying simple and effortless.
5. Does S3/25% intermittent mode mean short operating cycles?
Yes. S3/25% is an intermittent-duty rating: the compressor operates for 25% of the cycle time (for example, 10 minutes in a 40-minute total cycle) and rests for 75% to dissipate heat. In practice, tyre inflation involves short 2–5 minute operating periods followed by pauses while the operator disconnects or moves the unit. It is not designed for continuous operation for an hour or more. For 8+ hours of continuous inflation work, an industrial compressor rated for continuous duty is required.
6. Does having no pressure vessel mean less stable pressure?
Slightly. A tankless compressor delivers pressure directly without storing compressed air. With a tank, the compressor fills the reservoir and the stored air can then provide stable pressure while the motor is off. Without a tank, the compressor needs to remain running whenever continuous pressure is required. For occasional inflation of car or bicycle tyres lasting only a few minutes, this is not a problem and automatic shut-off still works. For continuous use over long periods, a compressor with a tank is more suitable.
