What is a base jaw and what is its purpose compared to a complete jaw?
The jaw body (or base jaw) is the lower part of the top jaw system — it slides into the chuck guides and receives the top insert (the jaw itself). The jaw body is purchased when only the worn lower part needs to be replaced or when a customized clamping system is desired by mounting specific inserts (soft, hardened, special profile) onto a standard jaw body. The jaw body alone does not clamp — it requires the corresponding top insert.
Is this Ø 125 mm jaw body compatible with my chuck?
DK11 series: DIN 6350 connection with 11 bolts. Please check that your chuck has this connection before purchasing. The Ø 125 mm size indicates the chuck diameter for which it is designed — not interchangeable between different sizes. Also, ensure that the number of mounting bolts on the jaw body matches that of the chuck.
Are the top inserts (top jaws) purchased separately?
Yes — the jaw body is designed to accommodate top inserts from the STJ, TJ, DSTJ, DTJ series corresponding to the same size and connection. The inserts are purchased and replaced independently of the jaw body. Original spare parts available with 3–5 business day shipping. Italian customer service available.
