CMT rip blade — how does it differ from a universal blade?

A rip blade has fewer teeth with a large gullet and a positive hook angle: each tooth removes large chips quickly without burning the wood along the grain. Universal or crosscut blades have more teeth with ATB geometry — they produce cleaner but slower cuts along the grain. For long cuts of boards and beams, a rip blade significantly reduces cutting times.

Does it work on solid wood, plywood, and panels?

Excellent on solid wood along the grain. On plywood and panels, it produces a rougher cut at the edges compared to a blade with more teeth — acceptable if the edge is then finished. Not suitable for laminates and MDF where edge finish is critical.
