When is 180 grit used and what is the next step in the sanding cycle?

180 grit is suitable for finishing: final sanding before painting or between coats of paint. Typical materials: Solid wood, veneers, penetrating paint, lacquer. 180 grit is the final step — no subsequent step is required for standard painting. Skipping intermediate grits produces surfaces with visible streaks after painting — each step must reduce the streaks from the previous one.

Do these paper belts last as long as cloth belts?

Paper belts have a stiffer backing and a sharper cut — suitable for flat sanding and soft materials (wood, MDF, plastic). Their durability is lower than that of cloth, especially on metal or curved surfaces. For intermittent use on wood, paper is more economical; for intensive use or on metal, prefer cloth/fabric belts of the same grit.

Is the 2510 x 150 mm size compatible with my sander?

Check the belt size indicated in your sander's manual before purchasing — the dimensions must match exactly. A belt that is too short or too long will not tension correctly and will quickly be damaged. For Bernardo models compatible with this size, consult Krollit. Customer support available in Italian.

How should unused abrasive belts be stored correctly?

Store vertically (not stacked flat) in a dry environment with relative humidity of 40–60%. Humidity causes the binder to detach and makes the belt brittle. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Under these conditions, the shelf life is 12–24 months.
