When is 220 grit used and what is the next step in the sanding cycle?

220 grit is suitable for finishing: final sanding before painting or between coats of paint. Typical materials: solid wood, veneers, penetrating varnish, lacquer. 220 grit is the final step — no subsequent step is required for standard painting. Skipping intermediate grits produces surfaces with visible scratches after painting — each pass must reduce the scratches from the previous one.

Do these paper belts last as long as cloth belts?

Paper belts have a stiffer backing and a cleaner cut — suitable for flat sanding and soft materials (wood, MDF, plastic). Durability is lower compared to cloth, especially on metal or curved surfaces. For intermittent use on wood, paper is more economical; for intensive use or on metal, prefer canvas/cloth belts of the same grit.

Is the 2510 x 150 mm size compatible with my sander?

Check the belt size indicated in your sander's manual before purchasing — the dimensions must match exactly. How should unused abrasive belts be stored correctly?

Store vertically (not stacked flat) in a dry environment with 40–60% relative humidity. Humidity causes the binder to detach and makes the belt fragile. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Under these conditions, shelf life is 12–24 months.
