Description

Güde SG 131 A-SYN is a compact flux-cored inverter welder for occasional workshop and construction-site use. IGBT inverter technology provides fast switching and precise current control, while synergic wire feed automatically sets the optimum speed. Welding current is continuously adjustable from 20 to 120 A. No gas cylinder is required: the shielding agent is contained in powdered form inside the wire, making the machine suitable for outdoor welding even in windy conditions. Distributed in Italy by Krollit, official Güde distributor since 2007.

  • Flux-cored inverter welder (gasless)
  • Automatic synergic wire feed
  • Continuously adjustable current: 20-120 A
  • Flux-cored wire: 0,9 mm (small spool)
  • Recommended material thickness: 1,5-8 mm
  • IGBT inverter technology
  • Duty cycle (ED) at maximum current: 10%
  • Thermal overload protection
  • Forced-air cooling fan
  • Power supply: 230 V single-phase
  • Net weight: 6,2 kg

Who uses the Güde SG 131 A-SYN and what for

This machine is designed for advanced DIY users, maintenance technicians and mobile work, for occasional small welding jobs on sheet metal and profiles from 1,5 to 8 mm. The flux-cored wire contains the shielding flux inside, so no gas cylinder is needed: work can start immediately, even outdoors in windy conditions where external shielding gas would be dispersed. Synergic feed automatically regulates wire speed, reducing manual settings and spatter. It is lightweight (6,2 kg) and ready to use with torch, earth cable and accessories included. It is not intended for continuous industrial use: the 10% duty cycle at maximum current indicates that it is designed for short jobs.

Who the Güde SG 131 A-SYN is suitable for

Profile Suitability Reason
Advanced hobbyist and DIY user Suitable Compact, gasless and ready to use for occasional jobs
Maintenance and mobile work Suitable Lightweight (6,2 kg) and powered from a 230 V single-phase socket
Outdoor welding in windy conditions Suitable Gasless flux-cored wire, with shielding that cannot be blown away by wind
Continuous industrial use Not recommended 10% duty cycle at maximum current, designed for short jobs

Not recommended for: continuous industrial production, MIG/MAG welding with gas or TIG, and work on thicknesses outside the 1,5-8 mm range. Prolonged high-current welding requires a machine with a higher duty cycle.

Flux-cored wire technology

Flux-cored wire contains a flux that melts and generates the shielding gas for the weld pool. Unlike conventional MIG/MAG, no external gas cylinder is required, simplifying transport and allowing outdoor use: wind cannot disperse shielding that is generated directly at the arc. IGBT inverter technology ensures a stable arc even on thin sheet metal, while synergic wire feed automatically adapts wire speed to the selected current.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a gas cylinder to use the SG 131 A-SYN?

No. It is a flux-cored wire welder: the shielding flux is contained inside the wire itself and activates as it melts, so no external gas cylinder is required. This makes it easier to transport and suitable for outdoor use.

Because the shielding is generated directly at the arc, wind cannot disperse it as it can with gas-shielded MIG/MAG. Use 0,9 mm flux-cored wire, not solid wire intended for use with gas.

What does a 10% duty cycle (ED) at maximum current mean?

At the maximum current of 120 A, the machine can weld for about 10% of a reference cycle and must cool for the remainder. This is consistent with a machine intended for short, occasional jobs.

At lower currents, useful welding time increases. For prolonged high-current welding or continuous industrial use, a machine with a higher duty cycle is required; Krollit service can recommend a suitable model at +39 0825-1494022.

What thicknesses can I weld?

The recommended thickness is 1,5-8 mm, suitable for medium-size sheet metal and profiles used in repairs, maintenance and advanced hobby work. On very thin materials, fine current adjustment helps prevent burn-through.

Synergic feed automatically sets wire speed according to the selected current, simplifying setup. For materials outside the stated range, a dedicated machine is preferable.

Can I fit large wire spools?

The machine is designed for small 0,9 mm flux-cored wire spools (up to about 1 kg). It is supplied with 0,45 kg of wire, 3 replacement nozzles and a replacement 0,9 mm feed roller.

For spare parts and consumables (wire, nozzles, rollers), Krollit stocks original Güde parts. To check compatibility of a specific consumable: +39 0825-1494022.

How do service and spare parts work in Italy?

Technical support is available in Italian for the lifetime of the product, and original Güde spare parts are available from Krollit stock in Monteforte Irpino (AV). Support: +39 0825-1494022.

Optional accessories include automatic welding helmets, welding gloves and protective nozzle spray, orderable using the codes listed above.
