Güde GTBS 710 Telescopic Drywall Sander

The telescopic handle extends from 1,450 to 1,700 mm. Adding the operator's height and arm extension, typical ceilings in homes and offices up to approximately 3 meters from the ground can be reached.

For ceilings between 3.2 and 3.5 meters, a scaffolding tower or stable ladder is needed. For heights over 4 meters, scaffolding and drywall sanders with additional extension must be considered, resulting in increased weight and operator fatigue. The GTBS 710, weighing 6.58 kg, remains manageable with an outstretched arm for medium-duration sanding cycles.

The GTBS 710 is sized for gypsum plaster, drywall, internal civil plaster, and washable paints. Intended uses: leveling joints between sheets, finishing plasterwork, removing old paint.

To be avoided: high-strength cement-based plaster, epoxy finishes, two-component resins. For parquet, wood, and metal sanding, dedicated machines are needed: the M14 thread is common to other angle grinders, but the maximum 2,500 rpm is not suitable for high-speed diamond discs or metal polishing pads.

The dust extraction port is included in the standard equipment. It connects to a dry vacuum cleaner with a standard diameter flexible hose via the integrated nozzle on the sander body.

For professional use, a Class M vacuum cleaner with automatic filter cleaning is recommended, as gypsum dust is fine and quickly clogs standard filters of household vacuum cleaners. Good suction keeps the work area visible, reduces dust deposits on furniture and floors of the job site, and extends the life of the abrasive paper.

The electronic regulation allows choosing the speed based on the material: 1,200-1,500 rpm for fresh and soft plaster, 1,800-2,200 rpm for standard finishes, 2,300-2,500 rpm for seasoned plaster or old paint to be removed.

Working at too high a speed on fresh plaster creates undulations and sanding marks. Too low a speed on hard plaster overworks the motor and prolongs working time. The regulation is managed by the electronic board with spare part code 55570-01003, replaceable in case of electronic control failure.

The change is tool-free. Unscrew the locking nut, remove the pad in use, and mount the desired one by re-tightening the nut. The operation takes less than a minute.

The pads supplied are the Ø 225 mm round for open wall and ceiling surfaces, and the approx. 220 mm delta for internal corners and areas near skirting boards, door frames, and electrical outlets. The locking nut (spare part code 55570-01002) should be replaced if it shows play or does not hold the pad in position during rotation.

The model comes with 12 round discs and 12 delta sheets in grits 80, 120, and 180. The attachment is hook-and-loop (Velcro system) on the sanding pad, without hooks or screws.

For rough finishing, start with grit 80, for intermediate, switch to 120, for finishing before painting, end with 180 or 240. For very fine plasterwork, 320 grits can be used. Replacement abrasive paper compatible with 225 mm round and approx. 220 mm delta format is available from Krollit warehouse with standard grits for drywall.
