Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 35 and 70 m/min?
The 70 m/min speed suits mild steel, aluminium and copper: fast penetration and short cycle time. The 35 m/min speed is for stainless steel, tool steel and cast iron: it protects the blade from overheating and reduces wear.
Selection is manual with two positions. Choosing the correct speed by material extends blade life and improves cut quality, especially on hard materials where heat is the main wear factor.
Can I make 90° and 45° cuts without changing the blade?
Yes. The machine swivels the frame, not the blade, which stays the same at 3,460 x 34 x 1.1 mm. To switch from 90° to a mitre cut you simply swivel the frame, with the workpiece clamped in the vice.
The frame swivels from -45° to +60°, covering double mitre cuts without repositioning the workpiece. The speed change (35/70 m/min) is independent and chosen by material.
Is the MBS 400 DG automatic or manual?
It is semi-automatic. The operator clamps the workpiece and starts the cut; the frame lowering is controlled by the hydraulic cylinder, and the machine stops automatically at the end of the cut.
The automatic cut-off at end of material frees the operator during the cut. Loading and unloading remain manual, making the machine suitable for both single and small batch cuts.
Is cooling mandatory?
Recommended for long cuts and hard materials such as stainless and tool steel, where it reduces blade wear. On mild steel and short cuts it is not critical but remains useful.
The 100 W pump maintains a constant coolant flow. Use the specific concentrate (e.g. MN 1103), not pure water, which would cause rust inside the system.
