Description
Original Bernardo swiveling top slide for Hobby 250 lathe — allows taper turning by adjusting the angle of the compound slide relative to the lathe axis. Made in Austria, in the Krollit catalog since 2007 as an official Bernardo distributor.
- Compatible with: Bernardo Hobby 250 Lathe
- Function: Taper turning with adjustable angle
- Type: Swiveling top slide (adjustable compound slide)
What it is for
The swiveling top slide is mounted in place of the standard compound slide of the Hobby 250 lathe. By rotating the slide at a precise angle relative to the turning axis, it allows turning cones and conical surfaces without having to tilt the workpiece. Suitable for making tapered seats, points, tapered threads, and fittings. The angle is adjusted with an integrated graduated protractor.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the vertical slide for the Hobby 250 and what is it for?
The vertical slide is an accessory that transforms the Hobby 250 lathe into a machine with light vertical milling capabilities. It mounts in place of the compound slide and carries a vertical tool holder that allows milling, grooving, and axial drilling on the workpiece mounted in the chuck — without moving the workpiece between the lathe and a separate milling machine. Suitable for occasional and small-scale milling operations on workpieces already mounted on the lathe.
Does it have the same performance as a dedicated milling machine?
No. The vertical slide for the Hobby 250 allows light milling on small workpieces — it does not replace a dedicated milling machine for demanding operations. The main limitations are the reduced travel, the rigidity of the system (the lathe is not designed for intense lateral milling forces), and the absence of a dedicated milling worktable. For intensive milling or series production, use a dedicated milling machine.
