Who uses the RAVAS 2100 Exi and for what
The RAVAS 2100 Exi is used in ATEX classified production departments and warehouses in sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, industrial painting, and food industry with the presence of combustible dusts. In zones 1 and 21, it replaces the pallet jack + floor scale combination, eliminating a double step and reducing weighing times in mixing and dosing. In zones 2 and 22, it is the standard solution for weight control in the receipt and shipment of flammable raw materials or explosive dusts, where an uncertified pallet jack constitutes a regulatory non-compliance.

Professional applications
Mixing and dosing in zone 1 and 21
In mixing operations with flammable solvents or powders in zones 1 and 21, the 2100 Exi allows direct weighing on the pallet jack during component loading. The 0.2 kg graduation in the first range (0–200 kg) meets the precision requirements of recipes with tight tolerances, without transferring the load to a separate floor scale.
Weight control in receiving and shipping in zone 2 and 22
In chemical or pharmaceutical product storage warehouses classified as zones 2 and 22, the 2100 Exi replaces floor weighing with non-ATEX certified scales. The 2,000 kg capacity and 1 kg multi-range in the upper range cover standard 200-liter drums, IBCs, and big bags without additional transfer or repositioning operations.
Frequently asked questions
Is the RAVAS 2100 Exi approved for ATEX zones 1 and 21 or only for zones 2 and 22?
The 2100 Exi is certified for zones 1 and 21 (continuous or frequent presence of flammable gases/vapors or combustible dusts) as well as for zones 2 and 22. The system classification is ATEX II 2 G Ex ib IIB T4 Gb for gases and II 2 D Ex ib IIIC T135°C Db for dusts.
DEKRA 13ATEX 0044 approval covers the entire system (indicator + load cells), while the battery has separate DEKRA 13ATEX 0043 approval. This double approval is crucial for the most critical environments such as chemical plants with low flash point solvents, spray painting, and storage of metal dusts.
Is the legal for trade version of the 2100 Exi different from the standard version?
The legal for trade version (OIML III, European approval T2782) has a fixed multi-range graduation of 0.5/1 kg or one of the following fixed graduations: 1 kg in 1,000 divisions, 2 kg in 1,000 divisions, 0.5 kg in 2,000 divisions, 1 kg in 2,000 divisions. The display automatically turns off when the pallet truck is tilted more than 2°.
The standard non-legal for trade version offers multi-range graduation of 0.2/0.5/1 kg with 0.1% load tolerance, suitable for process weighing where legal metrology compliance is not required. The choice depends on the regulatory obligation applicable to the production process or commercial transaction.
Can the 2100 Exi battery be replaced by the operator without technical intervention?
The battery is designed to be removable and replaceable by the operator. The 8 Vdc / 3.5 Ah pack is available as an additional option for continuous operation, allowing one pack to be charged while the other is in use.
Charging takes place with the supplied 230 V / 8 Vdc charger, to be used exclusively outside the hazardous area. Full charging time is approximately 8 hours; autonomy is 100 hours. The low battery indicator appears on the display before service interruption.
What fork dimensions are available besides the standard configuration?
The Premium configuration allows forks from 950 to 2,400 mm in length, single width from 155 mm and outer width from 450 to 900 mm. The maximum height in Premium configuration is 176 mm with 86 mm space under the forks.
The standard configuration provides 1,150 mm forks with 170 mm width and 555 mm outer width. For non-standard dimensions, a selected chassis (Premium chassis) is used. The choice of configuration depends on the type of pallet used in the plant and the height of the storage racks.
Can the 2100 Exi operate in environments with ketone-based solvents or metal dusts?
The IIB classification for gases covers most common industrial solvents (acetone, ethanol, gasoline, toluene). It does not cover Group IIC gases such as hydrogen and acetylene, for which specific IIC certification is required.
For dusts, the IIIC classification covers conductive metal dusts such as aluminum. The maximum declared surface temperature is T135°C for dusts. It is advisable to check with the plant's ATEX manager for correspondence between the 2100 Exi's classification and the specific flammable substance or dust present in the operating area.
What is the recommended periodic maintenance for the RAVAS 2100 Exi in an ATEX zone?
RAVAS recommends periodic inspections of the ATEX certification's integrity: verification of IP seals, checking the condition of the AISI 304 stainless steel forks, inspection of the membrane keyboard and the condition of the antistatic wheels. ATEX EN 60079-17 regulations require periodic checks by qualified personnel.
The battery is maintenance-free but must be replaced at the end of its life cycle. The hydraulic pump and lifting circuit seals follow the same maintenance schedule as a standard pallet truck. Krollit provides technical assistance in Italian and original RAVAS spare parts from its warehouse in Monteforte Irpino (AV).
Is the RAVAS 2100 Exi available with a rotating indicator or with large buttons for use with gloves?
Both options are available as extras: a rotating indicator (for visibility from different positions during handling) and large buttons suitable for use with work gloves or antistatic gloves required in ATEX zones.
The standard keyboard is membrane-based with 3 function keys plus an on/off button, resistant to chemicals. For environments where operators wear thick gloves or mandatory antistatic gloves, the large button option reduces operational errors during weighing.
