Bernardo Radial Drill RD 1300 x 40 Vario – Precision and Flexibility with Continuous Variable Speed
The Bernardo RD 1300 x 40 Vario radial drill is a professional machine designed for drilling, counterboring, reaming, and tapping up to M40. With a drilling capacity of up to Ø 40 mm and continuous variable speed (74–2200 rpm), it offers extensive versatility for various workshop applications.
The torsion-free, ground column, hardened and polished radial arm guides, and independent hydraulic clamps for the column, arm, and head ensure maximum rigidity and precision. The integrated counterweight on the spindle provides optimal balance during operation.
The radial arm, with a horizontal travel of 1000 mm, allows for flexible machining, while the lifting motor maintains the spindle's stable position even during repetitive operations. Standard features include: box table, inverter, cooling pump, adjustable guard, LED light, and professional accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a radial drill and when is it needed compared to a pillar drill?
In a pillar drill, the workpiece moves to center the drill bit on the hole. In a radial drill, the spindle moves: the radial arm slides along the column (height) and rotates around it (angle), positioning the spindle precisely over the drilling point on fixed, heavy workpieces that cannot be easily moved. It is the choice for large workpieces, metal fabrication, and machining on already assembled machines.
Is the radial arm motorized or manual?
It depends on the model. Basic versions of the RD series have manual arm movement with screw locking. NC or Vario versions may have Z-axis motorization. Please check the model specifications in the technical data table.
What is the purpose of spindle right/left rotation (R/L)?
Left rotation (L) allows the use of left-hand cutters and the loosening of left-hand threaded screws. It is also useful for manual tapping operations where advancement (right) and retraction (left) are alternated to break the chip.
Are spare parts and assistance available?
Original Bernardo spare parts available with 3–5 business day shipping. Customer support available in Italian.
How much space is needed for installation?
The turning radius of the arm determines the minimum operating area. Allow free space equal to the arm's radius on all sides of the column. For machines over 500 kg, coordinate with Krollit for the necessary unloading equipment.
