Who uses the CWM 250 Top and for what
The Bernardo CWM 250 Top is the most complete combination machine in the Bernardo catalog for 230V single-phase: it adds a vertical spindle moulder with a Ø 30 mm spindle to the three standard functions (surface planer, thicknesser, saw). With the 6,500 rpm vertical spindle moulder, mouldings, grooves, and profiles can be created directly on the combination machine, without purchasing a separate spindle moulder. The 980 × 470 mm saw table is among the largest in its category. The combination of four functions in 230V single-phase and 310 kg makes it the choice for well-equipped workshops without three-phase power who want to cover all major solid wood processing operations in a single machine.
Who is the Bernardo CWM 250 Top for?
| Profile |
Compatibility |
Reason |
| Passionate hobbyist |
Suitable |
230V single-phase, 4 functions: very complete for advanced hobby use. The cost is higher than standard CWMs — justified if the vertical spindle moulder is also used. |
| Artisan carpentry without three-phase |
Ideal |
4 functions in 230V: the only combination machine that also includes a vertical spindle moulder (Ø 30 mm) in single-phase. For those who also do mouldings and profiles without wanting a separate spindle moulder. |
| Industrial production |
Not suitable |
For high-volume production, dedicated separate machines are more efficient. |
Not suitable for: pieces over 250 mm wide (planer); intensive industrial production; workshops with three-phase available (consider CWM 250 R – 400V + separate spindle moulder).

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the integrated vertical spindle moulder in the CWM 250 Top do?
The vertical spindle moulder has a vertical Ø 30 mm spindle (the same European standard as professional spindle moulders) that rotates at 6,500 rpm. It allows for profiling edges, making grooves, channels, and mouldings on battens and panels — the same operations as a separate bench spindle moulder, integrated into the combination machine. For joinery workshops without three-phase power that also do occasional mouldings, it avoids purchasing a separate spindle moulder.
What is the difference between CWM 250 Top and CWM 250 R?
The CWM 250 Top adds a vertical spindle moulder (Ø 30 mm spindle, 6,500 rpm, 1.4 kW) compared to the CWM 250 R — which only has a surface planer + thicknesser + saw. Same planing width (250 mm), same 230V power supply for the single-phase version. The cost of the Top is higher; it is justified if the profiling functions are also used.
What cutters are compatible with the Ø 30 mm spindle?
The Ø 30 mm spindle is the most common European standard for spindle moulder cutters. All HM cutters with a Ø 30 mm shank and a maximum diameter of up to Ø 140 mm are compatible. The speed of 6,500 rpm is suitable for most standard cutters on soft and medium wood; for hardwoods, check the maximum permissible peripheral speed for each cutter.
Is a dedicated dust extractor required?
Yes. With 4 active functions, chip production is high. A dust extractor with a minimum flow rate of 700–900 m³/h and a Ø 100 mm connection is recommended. Dust extraction can be connected to multiple points thanks to the Ø 100 mm connections on multiple units.
Does the 310 kg weight require special arrangements for delivery?
At 310 kg, the machine can be handled with an equipped platform — coordinate with Krollit before delivery to verify access to the workshop. Bernardo shipping 5–9 working days (7 days to the South).
