The cyclone separator intercepts chips and coarse sawdust before they reach the main filter of the dust collector: air enters tangentially into a conical cylinder, the circular motion causes heavy particles to fall downwards into the tank, while clean air rises towards the dust collector. Result: the dust collector's filter clogs much slower — you empty the cyclone's tank instead of changing expensive filters.
